Passionate experimentalist, fully experienced in various fields ranging from supercavitation, atomization and combustion, to biophotonics and super-resolution imaging.
Biography
Kyungduck Yoon is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Bioengineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His main research interest involves an on-chip development of super-resolution fluorescence microscopy. His current research focuses on developing highly-accessible imaging systems for practical applications including simultaneous multicolor acquisition and high-throughput imaging flow cytometry, both of which achieve resolution beyond the diffraction limit. Parts of the works are and will be published in ACS Photonics, Science Advances, and Optica. He has extensive wet lab experience in conducting experiments in large-scale facilities and setting up laser optics including particle image velocimetry and structured illumination.
Prior to starting his doctorate, Kyungduck completed his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, where he was affiliated with St. Anthony Falls Laboratory. Kyungduck was the recipient of the Nels Nelson Memorial Fellowship for his Master’s research entitled “Internal Flow Characterization of Ventilated Partial Cavitation using Particle Image Velocimetry,” supported by the Office of Naval Research. Parts of the work during his Master’s degree have been published in Physics of Fluids, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, Experiments in Fluids, and Ocean Engineering. Kyungduck holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Hanyang University.
